THE CURE

1

Jar It

  • Once the plant is dry, remove the buds from the stems and place them in airtight glass jars.

  • Use slightly larger jars than the amount of buds you have.

  • The ideal humidity range is 58-62%, and the temperature range is 60-70°F (15-21°C) to prevent mold and improve the taste of the buds.

2

Burp It

  • Monitor the humidity and temperature inside the jars and adjust them if necessary. -

  • Open the jars once a day for the first week to release any moisture.

  • After the first week, open the jars once weekly for the next 2-4 weeks until they maintain a humidity range of 58-62%.

3

Stash It

  1. Store the jars in a cool, dark place. Use a cupboard or closet that is away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

  2. Check the jars periodically for mold or mildew. If you see any signs of mold or mildew, remove the affected buds and clean the jars with a mixture of water and vinegar.

  3. Monitor the humidity inside the jars and add or remove moisture as needed. If the humidity is too high, remove the buds and let them air out for a few hours. If the humidity is too low, add a small piece of orange peel or a humidifier packet to the jar.

Jar It

Jars and Bags and Vacuums, Oh My!

01

What You Will Need

  • Clean glass jars with tight lids (mason or similar).

  • Labels for strain and date.

  • Optional: small digital hygrometers for inside jars.

Good jars protect months of work.

02

How To

Gently snip buds off stems and place them loosely in jars, about 70–80% full.Don’t pack or crush them; they need a bit of air space.Seal the lids and store jars in a cool, dark spot to start curing. You’ll notice the smell change over the next days as moisture equalizes.

Burp It

01

How To

  • For the first week, open each jar once or twice a day for 5–15 minutes to release moisture and bring in fresh air.

  • Gently roll the jar or lightly move buds so different surfaces are exposed, then reseal.

If you ever smell sharp ammonia when you open a jar, buds are too wet—leave the lid off longer or spread them on a tray for an hour, then resume curing.

02

Maintain Temp and Humidity

  • Keep jars in a cool (around 60–70°F), dark place, away from heaters and direct sun.

  • Ideal jar humidity is roughly 55–62%; small hygrometers or humidity packs can help keep things in that range.

Don’t keep jars somewhere that swings from hot to cold daily.

03

When Is It Ready for Use?

After about 2–4 weeks of regular burping, buds usually smoke smoother and smell richer. Many growers notice the best flavor after 4–8 weeks, but you can start sampling earlier if you’re impatient. Once the cure is stable (with no big swings in moisture), you can open jars less often.

Stash It

Dark Cool Place

01

What You Will Need

  • Your cured jars.

  • A cool, dark cabinet or drawer.

  • Optional: small hygrometers or humidity packs.

Think “wine cellar,” not “car dashboard.”

02

Store the Jars in a Cool, Dark Place

Avoid heat, light, and big temperature swings; these break down THC and terpenes over time.A closet, cabinet, or drawer works great as long as it’s dry and not near a heater or sunny window.

03

Monitor the Humidity Inside the Jars

Check hygrometers occasionally; if humidity creeps above ~65%, dry buds a bit more before resealing. If it dips below ~55% and buds get too dry, a small humidity pack can bring them back into the sweet spot.

This keeps your stash fresh instead of crumbly or moldy.

04

Get a Pipe/Papers or LEVO for Edibles

At this point, you’re done growing and preserving and ready to enjoy. Pack a pipe, roll a joint, or vape your cured flower. Or infuse oil/butter with a device like a LEVO or similar setup for edibles—decarb your flower first per your device’s instructions. You grew it, you cured it—now you get to decide exactly how to use it.
